Grow Bags

Grow Bags are mainly used for hydroponics growing under greenhouse conditions.

They are suitable for a wide variety of crops such as: vegetables (tomato, pepper, cucumber, strawberry, melon, watermelon, eggplant...), flowers (gerberas, roses...), soft fruit (strawberry, berries...) and fruit nurseries (citrus trees, olive trees, fruit trees...).

This composition is ideal for hot climates / high radiation levels during crop cycle. It has high water holding capacity, which avoids water lack stress in hot conditions; It is also advisable for salinity waters where a regime of few but long water cycles have to be done in order to wash salts.

Low cycle irrigation regimes.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPTIMAL EXPANSION

Coir fiber is a natural product that can have variations on its expansion.

- Place slab by slab on top of the surface or floor where it is going to be cultivated.
- Center the slab inside the bag to a low and equal expansion.
- To hydrate the slabs, puncture the irrigation drips on the upper part of the slab. Apply water or nutrients solution in a few irrigation cycles (10minutes) so the coir will be hydrated slowly and it will reach all its expected volume. Water required per slab will be approximately 75% of the slab final volume. Final expanded volume will be reached in 24 hours.
- After the total expansion it is necessary to make some cuts in the bottom part of the slab for the drainage. The number of cuts will depend on the land's slope. Normally three cuts on each side of the slab are done.
- Check out the water drainage electrical conductivity. Wash the slabs depending on crop requirements. The washing will reduce the water drainage E.C. level to the level of the tap water.
- Due to coco fiber characteristics, it is advisable to start with a nutrient solution rich in nitrogen and phosphorous (microflora establishment) and high calcium-magnesium levels and low potassium (cation exchange positions adjustment).
- During crop it is advisable regular EC control and adequate drainage to avoid salt accumulation on the coco coir.
